The academic day would be shortened to allow for a picnic preceding the football game. The student dance was to follow that evening, and simultaneously, an oyster roast for parents was planned. Proceeds from these events were to be directed to specific school needs, which reflected the fundraising philosophy at the time, which was heavily weighted to small, frequent event-based efforts, directed to individual program needs rather than school-wide support.
