Description

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 1, 9 July 1980
The July 1980 issue of the newsletter from Headmaster Robert C. Goodman, Jr. opened with a note of concern from Goodman that students were not spending enough time reading during the summer months. Included in this issue was an accounting of the success of the Trinity Titan Store, which generated a profit of $1,000 for the school year.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 2, 13 August 1980
In mid-August 1980 the newsletter had short reminders about book sales, class schedules, and textbook requirements.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 3, 28 August 1980
The establishment of a pep band was announced in this issue of the newsletter, along with dates and times for ceremonies and events associated with the opening of the 1980-1981 school year.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 5, 2 October 1980
This content-rich issue included the announcement of a recently-published student handbook, an upcoming sex education seminar, and a lengthy list of "plaudits," congratulating students and alumni on academic and athletic achievements.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 6, 30 October 1980
A number of fundraising events were announced in this issue of the newsletter: pecan and citrus sales, a Christmas bazaar, and a paper drive. Regular productions by the drama class were now occurring; next up was Antic Spring, November 17, 1980.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 7, 19 November 1980
Trinity's relatively young debate team won the Greater Richmond Debate League Competition in November 1980. Other news items of note in this issue of the newsletter were the upcoming Christmas Candlelight Service, exam schedules, and fundraising events.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 8, 16 December 1980
Policies and protocols for inclement weather were the leading topics for this winter 1980 edition of the newsletter. A coding system, indicating late closings, was initiated. One local radio station was the only official source of school delays and closings.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 9, 13 January 1981
In January 1981, the newsletter from Headmaster Robert C. Goodman, Jr. noted the mid-year enrollment of four students. Inclement weather plans continued to be an important topic.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 10, 9 February 1981
This issue of the newsletter had, for the first time, a report of progress toward an annual giving campaign. A. James Kauffman, chair of the development committee, reported that more than 68% of Trinity's families had given or pledged toward the goal of $25,000 for the 1980-1981 school year.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 11, 3 March 1981
This newsletter contained a "statement of purpose," crafted by the Student Government Association. It lists qualities such as leadership and integrity, and "values of common decency and decorum, good sportsmanship, and honesty" as the "objectives of Trinity Episcopal High School." This issue included kudos to the Prep League championship boys basketball team, and to the Trinity Players for the production of Arsenic and Old Lace.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 12, 8 April 1981
Two groups of exchange students, from England and France, visited Trinity in March and April 1981. The newsletter included much information about events and activities for both groups. Trinity's debate team continued to earn success in regional competitions.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 13, 6 May 1981
Dates, times, and logistics for the numerous end-of-year events dominated this issue of the newsletter. These included prom, awards assembly, exams, sports awards night, baccalaureate, graduation, and art performances. To prepare for the next school year, juniors and sophomores were to attend a college admissions program, and all underclassmen were advised to begin their summer reading assignments.

Newsletter, Vol. 8 No. 14, 28 May 1981
Each issue of the newsletter often included a plea to return or locate missing library books, as well as thanks to and recognition of those who had donated volumes. This issue, in May 1981, included both, as the school year came to a close. Exam schedules were listed. Winners from the annual awards assembly were also included.
