This personal letter from Rev. Robert H. Steilberg, rector of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, to Billy Shands, thanked him for his leadership and his acceptance of the role of chairman of the Steering Committee. It is evidence of the close and mutually supportive relationship between the two. They had worked closely together up to this point as plans for the new school came together. It is clear that Steilberg wished for Shands to become the chairman. He offered words of encouragement and characterized Shands as "somebody pretty special."
